We've had many families ask how they can get involved regarding the upcoming school closure talks. Below, you will find a clear outline of how you can help support our school. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at PTA@bhspta.org.
 
Update about Superintendent Murphy’s proposed plan for closure /consolidation

With the Consolidation in motion, we are looking to support the communities that are impacted throughout this hard time.
 
Below are a few links to be aware of if you want to get more involved.
 
 

Hearings are held at the targeted schools.

Hearing Dates:

McKenny Elementary: Monday October 12th at 6pm

LP Brown Elementary: Thursday, October 15th at 6pm

Madison Elementary: Monday, October 19th at 6pm

Upcoming important dates October-November 2026
 
  • Friday October 2nd 6:00 PM open invite to all of BHES at Rutledge Family Farm: BHES will be there from 6pm-8pm! Visit the Rutledge Family Farm website to purchase tickets. The cost is $13, and children 4 and under are free. *Please note this is a BHES community event and not a PTA event.  
     
  • Monday October 12th Save the Date!! Brewery City Pizza Fundraiser at the Martin Way location in Lacey 4-9 PM: The PTA is pleased to announce an upcoming fundraising event at Brewery City Pizza. This provides a great opportunity to enjoy a night off from cooking while supporting our school. Further details regarding this event will be provided soon!
     
  • Saturday October 24th 4:00-6:30 PM Halloween Carnival: More information to come!
     
  • Friday November 20th Save the date for a Family Friendly Movie Night! More information coming soon!

Mark your calendars for all the upcoming PTA Meetings (6:30 PM): All families are encouraged to join us at an upcoming PTA meeting—your participation makes a difference!
  • Monday November 9th 6:30 PM Location: BHES library:! Purpose: We will discuss upcoming movie nights, the Bear Market, and all planning activities as we gear up for the holidays.
Not a member of the PTA? No problem: Please join the PTA membership for the 26/27 You will also receive emails for all upcoming activities and fundraising events as we support our wonderful Boston Harbor students. Please note that Sponsored PTA memberships are available to anyone who wants one please email: PTA@bhspta.org to request a sponsored membership, the application is attached as a PDF for reference.
 
Classroom Communication Reps have been selected!
  • We want to extend a huge thank you to all the parents who stepped up and offered to volunteer. We received so many responses that we weren't able to place everyone in a representative role, but please know your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated! The PTA needs your unique help in other ways, and there are many exciting volunteer opportunities just around the corner.
     
  • Looking ahead, we need hands on deck to help plan our upcoming Halloween Carnival! Keep an eye out for our next newsletter, which will include sign-up links for this and several other essential volunteer roles. We can't do this without you!
     
  • Garden Club is open and needing volunteers! Seasonally: September-October 31 & March-end of school. No experience needed—just a love for kids and gardening! The garden club is open only when volunteers are signed up.  Contact Cindy Lewis at 503-929-7229 or Jeff Salazar at 206-530-0720 to schedule a garden tour.   • Track Stars are up and running…pun intended! Our very popular recess activity is starting back up and we need your help! Parent volunteers are needed to help track student laps during morning recesses any day of the week AND are welcome to support kids in tracking at ANY recess.  Sign Up Here!
