Fall Fun at Rutledge Farm! 
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our recent Community Playdate at Rutledge Farm! It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout from our school community. Together, we made some unforgettable fall memories picking out the perfect pumpkins and enjoying delicious seasonal treats. Thank you for making the day so special!

Hello BHES Families, here are your updates from the PTA for the week of 10/05/2026.
 
 Trackstars is BACK starting October 5th! 
  • To make this event possible, we rely heavily on our amazing parent volunteers. This year is going to be bigger than ever with a Fall season, a Spring season, and an epic class competition! 
  • We need volunteers during morning recess to help count laps so the kids can earn their way toward a popsicle party!  Sign Up Here!
 
School Directory Now Available!
  • A huge thank you to everyone who submitted their contact details. The school-wide directory is now live and ready to use. Click HERE to access! 
 
Join the Boston Harbor Elementary Garden Club as a volunteer during lunch recess from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday! No prior gardening experience is required, and you can sign up for a single shift or commit to a regular weekly schedule.
 

 Volunteer Requirements & Approval
To ensure student safety, we maintain a strict ratio of 6–7 children per adult. We aim for 2 volunteers per shift so we can welcome 15 kids into the garden.
  • Get Approved: You must clear an Olympia School District (OSD) background check before your first day.
  • Application Link: Complete the quick online form at the OSD HelpCounter Page.
  • Check-In: Once approved, the front office will have your printed name tag ready for sign-in.
 Shift Schedule & Responsibilities
  • Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early (11:30 AM)to set up so everything is ready when the first recess bell rings!
  • Opening & Setup (11:30 AM – 11:45 AM)
  • Open the Shed: Use code 2015 to unlock it.
  • Set the Stage: Hang the gnome flag on the flagpole.
  • Prepare Materials: Layout the matching number of student aprons and hook up the water hose.
  • Unlock & Coordinate: Open the earth tub and check in with the Ms. Analina in the kitchen regarding lunch compost.
First Recess (11:45 AM – 12:00 PM)
  • Supervise kids as they water, weed, and plant.
Second Recess (12:00 PM – 12:30 PM)
  • Guide kids through continued weeding and planting.
  • Collect the green compost buckets from the Ms. Analina in the kitchen.
  • Compost Process: Have the kids measure the food waste in 5-gallon buckets and add it to the earth tub.
  • Sawdust Balance: Add twice as much sawdust from the green storage bin into the earth tub.
  • Wrap Up: Turn the composter and log the day's activity on the log sheet.

  • The Halloween Carnival is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready for a night full of fun, games, and treats for our kids! Want to help make the prize booth extra exciting? Check out our Halloween Carnival Wish List and consider donating an item (or two!) to help stock the booth with prizes our kids will love.

Upcoming important dates October-November 2026
  • Monday October 12th Save the Date!! Brewery City Pizza Fundraiser at the Martin Way location in Lacey 4-9 PM: The PTA is pleased to announce an upcoming fundraising event at Brewery City Pizza. This provides a great opportunity to enjoy a night off from cooking while supporting our school. Further details regarding this event will be provided soon!
  • Monday October 12-23rd Pumpkin Painting:Special Event: Pumpkin Painting in the Garden! Looking for lunchtime recess volunteers during pumpkin painting from October 12 - 23rd. Please reach out to Cindy Lewis 503-929-7224 if interested!
  • Saturday October 24th 4:00-7:00 PM (Prize booth open to 7:30) Halloween Carnival
  • Friday November 20th Save the date for a Family Friendly Movie Night! More information coming soon!
  • Bear Market Wednesday December 17th: More information to come!

Update about Superintendent Murphy’s proposed plan for closure /consolidation
With the Consolidation in motion, we are looking to support the communities that are impacted throughout this hard time.
